Yes, that is the game, but because I'm New to this forum I don't know the rules or if I offend SF users.

Yes, it is easy to play all you want offline, but NO, you can't connect to others without paying the online server fees (monthly). I wish it were possible to connect direct to another flyer or online for free. The other downside is it is a bit hard to gain experience with online fighting.

But it is Mac compatible! I'm not an online flyer. I'm not that good yet. I just like to skin and have others fly my skins. Depending on how this game's future goes, I really feel SF flyers should at least look at WB. Try out the forum to find out more. No comments on my webpage, Congobob?

I just checked out and flew warbirds for about an hour and i must say, its probably the closest we'll ever get to another SF. It has the fun and playability of SF mixed with the planes, vehices etc... and sheer numbers of IL2. Heres how it breaks down in my mind:
Pros:
Its fun, the 3D models are better, the same sound, skin and texture modding is there, it can handle more planes, it has a better damage model
Cons:
the controls can be a bit tedious and annoying at first, $14 a month is annoying, so its unlikely many of us (if we make the switch) will fly online much

overall, Id be willing to migrate

Good to know. I looked at it. A monthly online fee is annoying. It would be nice to play online. We have a good small community we should keep it together if anyone migrates. I would keep a similar screen-name. I imagine most would?

I dunno I have been playing UT2004 offline killing bots and that is al lately.
With my short attention span first person shooter is all i can do :?

I do have a newish computer

I am going to sample the warbirds simulation and post my thoughts about paying to play. If it were good enough then I might think it worth it, but considering that the majority of my playing skyfighters was offline, I doubt I will be interested in spending the money. However, I spend a similar amount for netflix and rarely use it. First I need to give the game a try and there seems no way to download without paying for it. Hmmm, some free game!

you get the free version by going through the 'sign up today' button process, they request your credit card (i think theres a $1.00 fee or something) but you only get charged if you sign up for the online stuff

I didnt go so far as to input my number, paranoid that way. guess I will though, plenty of references from folks on this board. From the screenshots it looks very good. I hope my powerbook G4 can handle it.

I run it on my 2 mac mini's and also use it on my "soccerball" iMac G4, but I only use it offline. Online ... I'm worthless and get shot down all the time. I get program crashes quite a bit online too with my Macs which are almost dinosaurs now.

I was looking at some artwork skins from Razzie. They appear to be extremely good quality and show me that he'd be able to do some WB skins for you guys in quick time.

There's a forum thread I want any skin artist to read where I detail online and offline policies in WB. See here: http://forum.totalsims.com/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=4944ad1b578d2fc839cd8129324fddb7
... and click on the top thread: Man o' War. See my comments on the last page (3) and if anyone wants to see the BEST WB paintskins, go here:

I tried to play this sim but it constantly crashes. I managed once to get through the check ride but when it was complete, another crash. It looked good and my processor was fast enough but perhaps the software is just not friendly to my mac - powerbook G4.
